Habeas Corpus is an ancient legal method still in use by which the Courts can require the Government and anyone else to justify why any person does not have unconditional freedom. Its flexibility is as infinite as its age. It applies to all people whether they are legally or illegally in a country. It has been the cause of great tension between the Courts and Parliament and on occasions laws have been passed to suspend it.
