The future of the judicial system of the European Union

These are the proceedings of the International Conference on the „Future of the Legal System in the European Union”, which was held in Iași between 30 May and 1 June 2019. The event was organized by „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the assistance of the Government Agent for the Court of Justice of the European Union, during the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

This publication focuses on topics such as the role of a national judge as a European judge, the preliminary questions policy, the procedures for the adoption of EU legislation on European jurisdictions, the recent amendments brought to the procedural architecture of the Court, or the reform and evolution of the General Court of the European Union.

Given the latest developments in the jurisprudence of the Court, these proceedings also deal in matters of the relationship between constitutional law and EU law, and between public international law and EU law, respectively.

This joint scientific endeavour zeroes in on the current issues regarding the CJEU jurisprudence and is intended to serve both the practitioners and the theorists of the European Union law.

Volumul este realizat ca urmare a desfășurării la Iași în perioada 29 mai – 1 iunie 2019 a Conferinței „Viitorul sistemului judiciar al Uniunii Europene”, organizată de Universitatea „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” din Iași, în parteneriat cu Ministerul Afacerilor Externe, prin Agentul Guvernamental pentru Curtea de Justiție a Uniunii Europene, în marja Președinției României la Consiliul Uniunii Europene.

Lucrarea analizează aspecte precum rolul judecătorului național ca judecător european, procedura întrebărilor preliminare, procedurile de adoptare a legislației UE în materia jurisdicțiilor europene, modificările recente aduse arhitecturii procedurale a Curții sau reforma și evoluția Tribunalului UE. De asemenea, se regăsesc în paginile acestei lucrări și aspecte relative la relația dintre dreptul constituțional și dreptul UE, respectiv dintre dreptul internațional public și dreptul UE, având în vedere ultimele evoluții în jurisprudența Curții.

Prezentul demers științific tratează temele de actualitate din jurisprudența CJUE și se adresează atât practicienilor cât și teoreticienilor dreptului Uniunii Europene.
